Cancer of the uterus refers to cancer of the main part of the womb (the body of the uterus) as opposed to cancer of the neck of the womb (Cancer of the cervix Map 428). Most of these cancers are of the inner lining of the uterus called the endometrium. Cancer of the uterus mostly affect women aged 50 to 60 years and are rare before the age of 30 years. Cancers of the uterus are more common in women who are very overweight (obese), have Diabetes Map 436, and women who have had no children.
Cancer of the uterus caused 0.12% of all deaths worldwide in 2002, an average of 11 deaths per million people per year and 1% of all deaths from cancer.
