The majority of Pashto speakers are in Afghanistan (where it is one of two official languages) and northwestern Pakistan. It is the language of the Pashtun ethnic group. Pashto is spoken by roughly 35 million people, in at least 11 territories. It is also spoken in the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Qatar, India, Tajikistan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Territory size shows the proportion of all people who speak Pashto as a first language that live in that territory.
