The highest number of premature deaths of men and boys between ages 15 to 60 years old in 2003 were in India and China; followed by the Russian Federation, Indonesia and Nigeria. Part of the reason for these high counts is the large population of these territories.

The most premature deaths of men and boys between ages 15 and 60 were in African territories. Lesotho has the highest rate: 91 deaths per 100, meaning that most of the male population will not live to the age of 60. Low death rates amongst the males aged 15 to 60 are found in Switzerland, Israel and Singapore.

"There are no grown-ups living with us. I need a bathroom tap and clothes and shoes ... But especially, somebody to tuck me and my sister in at night-time." Apiwe, 2001

Territory size shows the proportion of all deaths of men and boys expected to die prematurely between the ages of 15 and 60 years worldwide, there in 2003.
